This is a one day workshop and is designed to give learners an introduction into giving information, advice, guidance and signposting

Workshop content:

– Introduction to advice work

What is advice and what is the difference between giving information, signposting and giving advice
How to apply key principles when giving information or signposting
Retrieving and ensuring that the client is provided with appropriate and accurate information about a service

– Managing an interaction with a client

Encourage clients to clarify their requirements
Knowing your boundaries and level of responsibility
Managing client’s expectations
Checking the client's understanding of the information

- Options and Consequences

Exploring options with clients
Elements of good action plans
Data Protection principles
Brief overview of the ethical and legal principles of Health and Social Care

- Putting your learning into practice

Observation role play activity

Severndroog Castle Building Preservation Trust Visitor Assistant Volunteer

Severndroog Castle is a unique 18th Century Grade II* listed Gothic tower in the Shooters Hill Woodlands, South East London. The Castle was built in 1784 by Lady James of Eltham as a memorial to her husband, Sir William James, who died in 1783. The building was closed to the public in 1988, re-opening to the public in July 2014. Since then, Severndroog Castle Building Preservation Trust continues to work towards securing the future of the building through community and commercial activities.
