Telephone Befriender


This befriending role provides emotional and well-being support.

Befrienders offer a friendly chat and act as wellbeing advisers to lonely and isolated adults living in Greenwich.

As a befriender you will be matched with one/two clients and commit to call them at least once a week. You may also decide to meet your befriendee in person. This will be following consultation with project staff.

No previous experience is needed but you will need the skills listed below.

You will need:

  • Empathy.
  • Good listening skills.
  • The ability to signpost to other organisations.
  • Confidentiality.

Full training is provided before you start your role and you will receive regular support and supervision.

Essential:

Must be able to volunteer for at least one hour per week.
